This is a graphite drawing of my town's public library (16x24). I won a place in my high school's annual calendar contest; all art students of all levels were asked to draw something that represented our town to them, so I chose the library. I think libraries are accepting, peaceful, and romantic places to be. A sweet escape.
17 year old me titled this piece "the book house," because I thought it was a silly name. I imagined all the residents of our town with this calendar hanging up in their homes, and my drawing of our public library captioned "the book house." That made me smile to myself. It still does, 4 years later. :)
